Morgan – way to hit it on the head. I think I was dancing around the idea of reciprocity the whole time and not saying it. Re: ubuntu – I was ignorant until now. Definitely a philosophy I want in my blog and my life!

Hi Emily,
thank you so much for the mention! THAT in turn made MY day! I was actually just thinking about this term ’social media’. Wikipedia seems to have a nice definition down, but I was perhaps wanting to get at something a bit more.

When I read your post on the way back from work (I’m a mobile device user), I smiled and smiled. I think social media, more than anything, is about reciprocity. These virtual ‘artifacts’ or links we share with each other are only decorations (though I struggle for a better word for it) for the act of our communicating with each other – that reciprocity.

I totally agree about the human element of sharing. Have you hear of the term ‘ubuntu’ – essentially, ‘I am you as you are me’.

We’ve hit a snag in the road for the project – and we need to change the name – lawyers are involved.
